Weekends

Getting used to making the most out of not working the weekends anymore. I think I'm used to not getting up and out the door every Saturday morning. Although we did just that this past Saturday. I did get to catch some extra sleep on the three hour ride to Six Flags New England. We are still making the most of our season passes and our weekends now I'm home. The sucky part is now I have all this time to do more stuff with the fam I don't necessarily have the cash. Sure getting into the park was paid for ages ago when we bought the passes, but we still have to eat and in the park food is never cheap. I do bring in some snacks and we do well with the refillable popcorn and drink containers we also got good use out of this year. We all had a good meal at Johnny Rockets at about 2pm. There were some leftovers we munched on too as we got hungry. Our treat thanks to Robert bringing some of his money was The Mr. Six Bowtie Sundae. It's a huge funnel cake shaped into a large bowtie with chocolate syrup, ice cream, and whipped cream on top. So so yummy. It was gone in about 2 minutes.
Last weekend the big boys were with their dad. I took Emily to Michales for a free American Girl doll craft. We took Jake and Em to Toys R Us for Geoffreys Birthday party. They had some little things to do and freebies to take home. Of course we also got a picture with Geoffrey as my kids are pros with characters. Though he is not the same Geoffrey I grew up with. Just a plain old looking giraffe now. Since there is another Michaels by Toys R Us Em and I went into that one too not sure if they had the freebie too. They did so she would up with two birthday cakes and hats. I had no clue Saturdays were freebie days. But I am learning. There are many store promotions to get you in as that first weekend with Star Wars Saturday showed me.
Friday night was great to see so many friends come for the Tastefully Simple party. Wish I had time to sit and chat with everyone but it's not easy with a house full of people. Felt weird as my former coworkers talked about the first Sunday opening of the year in two days time. It was something I should have been a part of but of course am not anymore. I told a few of them I'll have to come in for a visit one Saturday and just hang out in the breakroom with all of them all day. Although not sure that would be allowable. It would all depend on who was working. It would have to be planned so we'll see what happens. There is a dinner coming up. Hopefully I'll get to see and catch up with every one who goes.
I would not have been able to work the first Sunday anyway as it was my neices 2nd birthday party. My sister had it planned of course way ahead of time. The kids, all of them but mainly the little ones, had a ball as she had a petting zoo and pony ride come to the house for the party. It was really cute and completely different. All the kids and some of the adults were enthralled with the animals. They were able to go into the pen with the chickens and bunnies. Some people put their kids in with the ducks though I'm not sure they were supposed to. They even had little cups of food to feed to the llama and goats. Jake feed them all until they all stopped taking the food. Guess they got full. Emily like the bunnies best but wasn't thrilled they were in with chickens. She eventually got over it and even picked up the chickens as well as the bunnies.
I've been trying my best to do two things for myself every day: one, blog, two, exercise. This weekend was not very conducive to that as I got neither done both days. I'm here now doing my best though and thats about all I can do. I am going to enjoy my weekends even if I don't get my self imposed work done. Guess thats just the way it may go sometimes. If I was working I wouldn't be here much at all anyway right? Hope you all had a fun filled busy weekend too. :)
